
Amman, Feb. 13 (Petra) – Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply issued 390 tickets for food violations for non-compliance with the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law and related legislation, during 6,500 inspection visits in various governorates last month, compared to 463 in the same month in 2024.
In a statement to “Petra” Thursday, the ministry’s media spokesperson, Yanal Barmawi, said market monitoring operations included all the Kingdom’s governorates to follow up on compliance with market provisions and availability of goods.
Barmawi stated the ministry’s Market and Supply Control Directorate issued 187 fines in the capital, Amman, recording the highest number.
Out of the total figure, he said 145 tickets were issued for failing to announce prices, 27 others for non-compliance with the specified price, 6 for breaching the announced price, 8 for non-adherence to the discounts instructions and 1 for violating guidelines for establishing bakeries.
The directorate, he noted, issued 203 tickets in the remaining industry, trade and supply directorates across the Kingdom for similar violations.
Barmawi remarked efforts to step up market inspection campaigns are underway with approach of the holy month of Ramadan, adding that market-related complaints and observations will also be launched.
