ACC launches initiative to offer low-interest loans to farmers 

Amman, August 5 (Petra) – The Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC) launched a “qualitative” initiative aimed at enabling Jordan’s productive farmers to purchase agricultural production supplies and inputs.

Minister of Agriculture, ACC’s Board of Directors, Khaled Hneifat, launched the initiative on Tuesday.

According to an ACC statement, the move seeks to facilitate farmers’ access to inputs by providing operating loans disbursed directly to suppliers, in exchange for their commitment to sell their products at preferential and reduced prices, in accordance with specific regulations.

During its meeting, the board decided to grant these loans with an interest rate less than 1% of the ACC’s approved prices, aimed to “optimally” serve farmers to benefit from the incentive loans.

This policy comes within the framework of implementing principles of partnership between the Kingdom’s public and private sectors, under the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV).

The statement added that loans contribute to reduce agricultural production costs, enhance available liquidity to the private sector, and support national food security by stimulate local production.
