Agreement to empower women’s economic participation signed

Amman, Feb. 12 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, and Director of Jordan Office of World University Services of Canada (WUSC), Nancy Momani, on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement in the field of improving women’s economic participation opportunities.

The step also seeks to empower women to establish home and institutional nurseries, which contributes to raising quality of services provided to children.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Bani Mustafa stressed the importance of the Kingdom’s nursery sector in enhancing women’s economic participation, providing a “safe and healthy” environment for children, and boosting children’s cognitive, social and psychological development through early education.

The minister also commended the partnership with the WUSC in the field of developing social services in Jordan’s nursery sector, voicing the importance of the Canadian organization’s current programs, which have led to “tangible qualitative” results.

The agreement, she noted, focuses on enhancing community awareness and producing media content for establishing additional nurseries across the Kingdom, especially from the legal aspect on registration and official approval fields.

Meanwhile, Momani stressed the importance of joint cooperation on awareness in the nursery fields, hoping to achieve further mutual coordination in the future in multiple areas.
