Agriculture Ministry, Private Sector Partner to Expand Forests, Green Spaces

Amman, January 27 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hunaifat signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with Rawabi Farah Foundation and Fazaatak Company to enhance cooperation in forestation efforts, expansion of green spaces, and site rehabilitation across various governorates in the Kingdom.

The agreement seeks to cultivate economic and indigenous tree species compatible with the environmental conditions of agricultural areas and forests, contributing to efforts to combat climate change and bolster sustainable development.

Hunaifat underlined the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector, local communities, cooperatives, and environmental organizations to protect forest ecosystems and expand green coverage. He highlighted the initiative’s dual focus on restoring native tree species to their natural habitats and advancing developmental goals, such as generating employment opportunities for local communities and promoting economic benefits for families and youth in the governorates.

Laith Dweikat, representing Rawabi Farah Foundation and Fazaatak Company, commended the ministry’s unwavering support and prompt cooperation. He emphasized that the agreement will support efforts to enhance forests, extend green areas, and empower young people to play an active role in community service and environmental preservation.
