Agriculture Ministry, Statistics Department Sign Food Security Survey Agreement

Amman, Aug. 12 (Petra) – The Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Statistics on Tuesday signed a consultancy services agreement between the Higher Council for Food Security and the Department of Statistics to conduct a comprehensive survey on the state of food security in the Kingdom.

Agriculture Minister Saeb Khraisat said the agreement aims to strengthen the food security system and review related policies and strategic plans by providing accurate and comprehensive data to support national efforts to achieve food security.

He added that the agreement follows the Higher Council for Food Security’s decision to conduct an annual survey in line with best practices and international standards, meeting the needs of policymakers and helping to develop suitable future plans. Khraisat commended the Department of Statistics’ efforts, accuracy of its data, and expertise in statistical studies.

For his part, Director General of the Department of Statistics Haidar Furaihat stressed the importance of cooperation with the Higher Council for Food Security and all national entities to provide economic data and indicators that contribute to enhancing food security, noting that the department will harness all its expertise to serve the public interest.
