Amman Chamber Plans Major Shopping Festival, Drawing on Dubai’s Success Model

Amman, Jan. 8 (Petra) — The Amman Chamber of Commerce is set to launch its first annual shopping festival this summer, following discussions with Dubai Festival officials about their successful tourism and retail experience.

During a meeting with Ahmed Al-Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, Amman Chamber Chairman Khalil Hajj Tawfiq announced plans to establish a partnership that would leverage UAE’s expertise in organizing large-scale retail events.

“Amman is well-positioned to become a shopping, entertainment, and tourism destination for Arab families,” said Hajj Tawfiq.

The festival aims to stimulate commercial, tourism, investment, and cultural activities across Amman and other Jordanian cities, while attracting new investments and retail brands.

The initiative will be overseen by a high committee chaired by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yousef Qudah, and will encompass various tourist, archaeological, commercial, and cultural areas throughout the Kingdom.

The festival is designed to support entrepreneurs, cooperative societies, and small and medium enterprises while creating new job opportunities.

Al-Khaja expressed Dubai’s full commitment to providing logistical and marketing support to ensure the success of Amman’s inaugural shopping festival.

The meeting was attended by the Chamber’s First Deputy Chairman Nabil Al-Khatib, board member Falah Al-Sugheir, and Jordan’s Consul General in Dubai, Asem Ababneh.
