Audit Bureau, Dutch envoy discuss cooperation

Amman, October 5 (Petra) – Audit Bureau (AB) President Radhi Hamadeen on Sunday discussed with the Netherlands Ambassador to Jordan, Stella Kluth, opportunities to develop cooperation relations between the Jordanian bureau and the Netherlands Court of Audit (NCA).

According to an AB statement, the meeting reviewed programs funded by the Dutch government, mainly SHARAKA programme, with NCA’s technical support, aimed to enhance the auditing capabilities of the Audit Bureau’s auditors by using sustainable development indicators and goals.

The discussions also pointed to Netherlands SHIRAKA public finance programme, which aims to improve the state’s public financial management practices by training employees on the best international practices in public financial management.

Talking at the meeting, Kluth affirmed the Dutch government’s “readiness,” represented by the NCA, to provide “full” support to the Jordanian Audit Bureau, especially in the capacity-building field.

The diplomat also referrd to the lessons provided by these programs, which demonstrate extent and quality of joint cooperation, aimed at developing oversight mechanisms and benefiting from European experience in this field.

Discussing the Audit Bureau’s initiative to implement the “peer review” mission, Kluth welcomed the possibility of mutual cooperation between the two countries’ audit bodies to implement the peer review mission, which the Jordanian AB intends to conduct in the coming period with other oversight entities.

Additionally, she discussed bilateral cooperation in training on performance monitoring, impact assessment methodologies, and developing the capabilities of Audit Bureau auditors by learning about the practices of the Dutch oversight body in this field.
