Azerbaijan-Jordan Ties Flourish on Eve of Historic Anniversary, Says Envoy

Amman, Jan 16 (Petra) — Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Jordan Eldar Salimov highlighted the deepening bilateral relations between the two nations Thursday, as Azerbaijan prepares to mark the 35th anniversary of January 20, 1990.

“Azerbaijan and Jordan enjoy robust relations built on mutual respect, shared interests, and consistent coordination in international and regional forums,” Salimov said in a statement.

He particularly commended Jordan’s steadfast support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity in line with UN Security Council and OIC resolutions.

The ambassador emphasized the significance of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II’s participation at COP29 in Azerbaijan last year, where he met with President Ilham Aliyev. The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.

Reflecting on regional developments, Salimov noted Azerbaijan’s progress in normalizing relations with Armenia through direct bilateral negotiations, highlighting his country’s commitment to peaceful diplomatic solutions.
