Azraq Records Highest Temperature in Jordan at 45 C

Amman, Aug 9 (Petra) – The Southern Azraq weather station recorded the highest temperature in Jordan on Saturday at 45 degrees Celsius, followed by Al-Baqoura at 44 C, Jafr at 43.5 C, Wadi Al-Dhuleil at 43.4 C, Aqaba and Qatraneh at 43 C, Deir Alla, Mafraq and Safawi at 42.5 C, and Zarqa and Queen Alia International Airport at 42.4 C, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

In a statement, the JMD said the heatwave affecting the kingdom will persist, urging the public, especially during midday hours, to avoid direct exposure to sunlight for extended periods, drink sufficient amounts of water, and follow guidance issued under its awareness campaign “Protect Yourself from the Heat.”
