Port Sudan, November 13, 2025 (SUNA) –The Sudan News Agency (SUNA) held a press conference addressing issues of media misinformation, violations of international conventions, and breaches of ethical standards.Speaking at SUNA’s 42nd press conference, international law expert Dr. Hani Taj Al-Sir said that international laws prohibit attempts to conceal crimes and human rights violations such as those committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. He cited UN Security Council Resolution 1625, which outlines regulations for media conduct, stressing that there are international judicial bodies before which lawsuits can be filed to prosecute media outlets that attempt to whitewash militias responsible for crimes against humanity — as, he said, Sky News has done.Ali Mansour, from the Darfur Journalists and Media Professionals Association, urged the government to file cases in international courts against media outlets and journalists who enter Sudan without authorization and contribute to fueling wars and conflicts. He said that misleading media coverage has consistently violated all laws, fueled violence and killings, and significantly promoted criminals while spreading false information, despite the RSF’s violations of international law.Mohamed Al-Fatih Ahmed, Deputy President of the Union of Sudanese Journalists, stated that the scale of conspiracy against Sudan is beyond imagination, and that the media has obscured the truth by portraying the conflict as a “war between generals” or “two-sided conflict.” He emphasized that it is, in fact, a regional war targeting Sudan and its people. He added that recent developments have exposed the role of paid and biased media, stressing the need for press conferences in Western countries to clarify the emerging facts. He also noted the change in tone by the U.S. Department of State, as the U.S. Secretary of State has now accused the RSF militia of committing human rights violations and called on countries supporting the group to halt their assistance.Al-Fatih concluded that the media plays a decisive role and should not remain on the sidelines of state institutions, but rather be among the frontline forces in the Battle of Dignity.BH/BH
