Dollar Edges Higher Against Major CurrenciesSingapore, 19 Aug (ONA) — The US dollar posted modest gains against major currencies in Asian trading today.
The euro held steady at $1.1656, down 0.04%, remaining in the middle of the narrow range it has held over the past two weeks.
Against the yen, the dollar slipped 0.1% to 147.77, showing little momentum to break out of its month-long range after a Japanese government bond auction drew weaker demand than in July.
The Australian dollar traded at $0.6489, trimming earlier gains after Westpac data showed consumer sentiment rose to a three-and-a-half-year high in August. The New Zealand dollar also pared gains, last trading at $0.59245.
Sterling eased to $1.3501, its lowest level in a week, after earlier gains faded. — Ends/AH
