Education Ministry talks achievements of teacher support packages on world teachers’ day

Amman, October 5 (Petra) – The Ministry of Education published a summary of the government’s achievements over the past year in supporting teachers, reaffirming their vital role in shaping future generations and national development.

In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the Ministry announced that one of the latest milestones was the allocation of 1,039 land plots to teachers at 50% below market price, in coordination with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation.

As of early October, 132 teachers had registered to benefit from this initiative.

It reported that all 11,213 teachers who applied for emergency loans through the Education Guarantee Fund for 2025 received funding, with total disbursements reaching approximately JOD 12.644 million.

In higher education support, the Ministry doubled the admission quota for teachers’ children in public universities from 5% to 10%, benefiting 3,887 students for the 2025/2026 academic year, compared to 2,042 students the previous year.

Additional measures included:

Allocating 5% of grants and loans from the University Student Support Fund to teachers’ children, supporting 2,415 students at a cost of approximately JOD 3.28 million.

Increasing the Education Guarantee Fund by JOD 4.5 million.

Enhancing teacher recreation facilities, with new clubs established in Jerash and Madaba governorates.

Doubling the number of Hajj mission beneficiaries from 60 to 120 teachers.

The Ministry emphasised that these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to position education as a top national priority, respond to economic challenges and continue reform efforts.

Central to this strategy is the belief that investing in teachers Jordan’s human capital is essential for achieving sustainable development.

The Ministry concluded by affirming that these government measures aim to improve teachers’ living conditions, enhance job performance and stability and ultimately elevate the quality of the educational process and outcomes.
