Cairo, Feb 8 (Petra) — Egypt on Saturday strongly condemned as “reckless and unacceptable” an Israeli statement suggesting establishment of a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia.
The Israeli remarks were “an incitement against Saudi Arabia, and a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter that will undermine Saudi sovereignty,” according to Egypt’s Middle East News Agency.
“The Arab Republic of Egypt entirely rejects such reckless statements that directly affect the security and sovereignty of the Kingdom, and stresses that the security and sovereignty of sister Saudi Arabia is a red line that Egypt will not allow to be crossed,” it said.
The Israeli remarks are “a reprehensible transgression on all established diplomatic norms, and an assault on the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on all their national soil in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem of June 4, 1967,” said the official news agency.
Egypt reaffirmed its full support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against such statements, and calls on the international community to condemn and denounce them completely, said the agency.
