
Tunis, Feb. 16 (Petra) – The 42nd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers commenced in Tunis on Sunday with the participation of Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya, alongside his counterparts from Arab states and high-level security delegations.
Kuwait’s Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, assumed the presidency of the current session of the council from his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The session also saw the participation of Portugal’s Minister of Internal Affairs as part of efforts to enhance police cooperation between the European Union and Arab countries. Attendees included representatives from the Arab League, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol), Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the Arab Police Sports Federation.
The session discussed several key projects, including the 11th phase of the Arab Strategy to Combat the Illicit Use of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the 7th phase of the Arab Strategy for Civil Protection (Civil Defense), and the 7th phase of the Arab Strategy to Combat Cybercrime.
Additionally, the council reviewed a number of reports, including the Secretary-General’s report between the 41st and 42nd sessions, and the report of the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.
