FM meets Qatari counterpart in Doha

Doha, Feb. 16 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, met Sunday with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and expand cooperation in various fields.

The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and increasing coordination on regional issues, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Safadi expressed gratitude to Qatar for its continued support of Jordan’s economic development and for hosting over 80,000 Jordanian expatriates who work and reside in the country.

The discussions also covered regional developments, particularly in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, and Lebanon, as well as other issues of mutual concern.

Both sides emphasized the need to sustain the ceasefire in Gaza through the full implementation of the truce agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. They also stressed the importance of ensuring humanitarian aid reaches all parts of Gaza.

They reaffirmed that the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil based on the two-state solution is the only path to a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security for all.

Additionally, Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed rejected any attempt to displace the Palestinian people and emphasized the need to uphold Palestinian rights, particularly their right to self-determination and an independent state.

Safadi arrived in Doha from Munich, where he participated in the Munich Security Conference and held discussions with several counterparts on bilateral ties and regional issues.
