
AlUla, Oct 1 (Petra) — Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi took part on Wednesday in the opening session of the Munich Leaders Meeting (MLM), titled “Seeking Common Ground: The Middle East in a Multipolar World.”
Taking part in the meeting in the Saudi city of AlUla were: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty and Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Special Presidential Envoy to Lebanon.
Safadi held a series of meetings with a number of counterparts and participating regional and world officials on the sidelines of the meeting on bilateral relations and efforts to end the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
He stressed the need to unite all efforts to halt the Israeli aggression in Gaza, end the famine, and launch a genuine effort to achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.
He again welcomed the true efforts of US President Donald Trump to end the war, and stressed the importance of partnership with Washington to achieve peace in the region.
Safadi reiterated he welcomed Trump’s proposal to end the war, rebuild Gaza, prevent the displacement of the Palestinians, and push for comprehensive peace, as well as his declaration that he will not allow the annexation of the West Bank.
During the meetings, Safadi also discussed efforts to support reconstruction in Syria and stability in Lebanon, and other regional and international issues of common interest.
Safadi met with Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Lebanon’s Minister of National Defense, Major General Michel Manassa, German Federal Minister of State for Economic Cooperation and Development, Niels Annen, and State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Defense Nils Hilmer.
He also met with the French special envoy to Lebanon, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood Javier Colomina, First Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hana Jalloul, and Mora Namdar, Senior Official for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the US Department of State.
