Amman, Sept. 18 (Petra)– Jordan denounces and rejects the shooting incident that took place this afternoon on the opposite side of the King Hussein Bridge (Karamah Crossing) as a breach of the law and a danger to the Kingdom’s interests and its capacity to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Jordanian authorities have begun an investigation into the incident.

The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs issued a statement reaffirming Jordan’s unwavering stance against any violent acts and against any unlawful activity that jeopardizes Jordan’s role, interests, or ability to provide help to the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, the Ministry affirmed that it is keeping an eye on the situation of the drivers who crossed the bridge today to bring aid to Gaza in order to guarantee their prompt return, working with all pertinent organizations.

In accordance with the established protocols, twenty-two Jordanian relief trucks entered Gaza today. Since Israel began attacking Gaza, these actions have allowed 8,664 assistance trucks to travel in 201 convoys. Because to these convoys, Jordan is now able to send a significant amount of aid to the Gaza Strip, which is experiencing a humanitarian crisis that has been made worse by the onslaught.

In order to protect the entire region from the repercussions of the dangerous escalation it is witnessing, the statement emphasized the necessity of immediately stopping Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, reaching a permanent ceasefire, and initiating swift and effective diplomatic action to resolve the conflict based on the two-state solution.

According to the statement, 1968-born driver Abdul Mutalib al-Qaisi is the one suspected of carrying out the operation. Three months ago, this civilian motorist started transporting aid to Gaza.
