Edition of International Tour of Oman 2025 to Kick Off on 7 FebruaryMuscat, 3
Feb (ONA) — The 14th edition of the International Tour of Oman 2025 will kick
off on Friday, 7 February 2025. The sports event is organized by the Ministry
of Culture, Sports and Youth and in cooperation with Oman Cycling Federation.The tour
includes 5 stages over the Sultanate of Oman’s terrain and natural landscapes.
Scheduled to conclude on 12 February, the tour will see the participation of 18
international teams from Europe, Asia, America and Australia.The tour
will begin with “Muscat Classic” race, which will start at the Wave Muscat. The
competitors will then pass through a number of tourist sites that highlight the
beauty of the Sultanate of Oman. They will head towards the Sea Road in the
Wilayat of A’Seeb, passinf through the mountain road in the Wilayat of Al Amerat,
coming back to the area of Darsait. Then, the race will pass over to Al Wadi Al
Kabir and head towards the villages of Yiti and Qantab. The competitors will
then turn left from the Al Bustan roundabout towards the area of Sidab and
conclude this 171-km race in front of the State Council.Muscat
Classic, classified as a first-class one-day race in Asia, will earn the winner
a total of 125 points in the world ranking.Tour of Oman
comprises 5 stages, the first of which will start Saturday 8 February from in
front of Muscat College in the Wilayat of Bousher. The 170-km stage will
conclude at Bimmah Sinkhole in the Wilayat of Qurayat. The second stage, a
203-km stretch, will start on 9 February in front of A’Rustaq Fort in the South
Al Batinah Governorate. This stage will conclude at Yiti Heights in Muscat
Governorate.
The third stage, a 181-km long, will be held on Monday, 10 February, starting from the Wilayat of Bidbid in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. It will conclude in Al Jabal A’Sharqi Mountain in the Wilayat of Al Hamra.The fourth stage, a 181-km run, will start on Tuesday, 11 February, in front of Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. It will conclude at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat Governorate.The fifth and final stage of the tour, 139-km long, will be held on 12 February. It will start at Imtti area in the Wilayat of Izki in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate and will end at Al Jabal Al Akhdar Road in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.This was unveiled during a press conference held today by the Tour of Oman organizing committee, in the presence of Saif Saba’a Al Rashidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Cycling Association, Hisham Juma Al Sinani, Director General of Sports Care and Development at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and Haitham Mohammed Al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.— Ends/Bishara/AG
