Hassan commends Crown Prince’s announcement to reactivate military Service

Amman, August 17 (Petra) – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan praised the announcement by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II regarding the reactivation of military service as a significant step toward strengthening national values and youth development.

During a Cabinet session held Sunday, Hassan conveyed the government’s appreciation for the efforts and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in preparing for military service initiative.

Hassan affirmed that the government, in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army, will finalise preparations for the Military Service Programme, with implementation scheduled to begin early next year.

Funding for the initial phase will be allocated from the emergency expenditures line in the current year’s budget, with further allocations planned in the 2026 state budget.

He added that the programme will be rolled out gradually, and all relevant details including eligibility, structure and objectives will be announced in the coming weeks.

To facilitate implementation, the Prime Minister confirmed that the government will urgently submit a draft amendment to the Military Service and Reserve Service Law to Parliament as soon as the upcoming parliamentary session convenes.
