House speaker meets ICRC delegation in Amman; urges international action for Gaza

Amman, October 5 (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi said that the ongoing Israeli genocide, blockade and starvation in Gaza are a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and demand a firm and immediate international response.

Safadi’s remarks came during a meeting on Sunday with Jan Fredes, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Amman.

Safadi commended the ICRC’s humanitarian work and stressed the importance of sustaining support for communities affected by conflict and war.

He praised the organisation’s commitment to alleviating suffering in crisis-affected areas, including Gaza.

For his part, Fredes highlighted the ICRC’s longstanding presence and activities in Jordan since 1967 and its ongoing efforts to support those impacted by regional conflicts.

He expressed deep appreciation for Jordan’s role in upholding international humanitarian law and noted the importance of Amman as a key logistical hub for regional humanitarian aid operations.
