
Amman, Jan. 8 (Petra) – An expert from the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) emphasized the continuous royal support for the ICT sector, recognizing its pivotal role in driving economic growth in Jordan.
During a Cabinet session on Tuesday, His Majesty King Abdullah II urged the government to prioritize the technology sector, emphasizing its significance in enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens.
The JCC’s ICT sector representative Haitham Rawajbeh reiterated the King’s consistent emphasis on advancing the ICT sector as a critical component of national security and economic progress.
He noted that the royal support has encouraged local companies to expand, export software services globally, and generate thousands of job opportunities for Jordanians. Rawajbeh pointed to the sector’s qualitative advancements in recent years, positioning Jordan as a regional hub for technical services, entrepreneurship, and innovation, particularly in e-government, e-learning, and digital commerce.
Rawajbeh highlighted the solid digital infrastructure, skilled human resources, and favorable legal framework with tax incentives as foundational elements driving the sector’s growth. He underscored the importance of the sector in providing employment and supporting the transition to a digital economy, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision.
He also recalled the King’s directive to build on Jordan’s pioneering role in the ICT sector to establish it as a regional center for ICT services, attracting global technology firms and supporting local entrepreneurs. He emphasized the sector’s capacity to aid Gulf countries’ digital transformation and enhance Jordan’s reputation as a source of innovative technical solutions.
Rawajbeh called for increased efforts to position Jordan as a regional hub for ICT services, urging support for local investors and companies while attracting more global players to the Kingdom.
