Initial Hajj registration to begin next Sunday: Awqaf minister

Amman, Oct. 1 (Petra) – Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, announced start of initial registration for Jordanians and residents of the Gaza Strip to perform Hajj (piligrimage), starting next Sunday morning.

In a statement Wednesday, Khalayleh indicated that registration will be made through the Hajj registration platform (https://hajj.gov.jo/reg), starting from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and continuing until Sunday, October 26.

Khalayleh called on potential eligible applicants, who meet the registration requirements, to pay a fee of JD200 for the original registrant only, which is refundable after registration process ends.

The minister noted the accompanying pilgrims are exempt from payment, which is available through “eFawateercom”, or by visiting a branch of the Jordan Islamic Bank, or a branch of Safwa Islamic Bank.

Under this year’s Hajj season registration criteria, he noted the original applicant must have been born on or after December 31, 1980, and has not previously performed the ritual.

A medical certificate from Ministry of Health is also required for successful applicants, proving that the candidate is free of any disease, based on the instructions of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, he pointed out.

Regarding Hajj Fund savers, he noted this group, who has a balance of JD3,000 before January 1, 2020, are eligible to register through the link (https://eservices.hajjfund.gov.jo).
