Mhidat also stressed the JFDA’s commitment to supporting and developing “specialized” cooperation projects with its Yemeni counterpart to enhance Jordanian exports of drugs and medical supplies and facilitate procedures in this regard.

The memo, he noted, features provisions to enhance cooperation in the fields of monitoring and verifying conformity of medicines and medical supplies with specifications and standards and drug registration mechanism.

Under the MoU, he said the two sides would study bioequivalence, enhance cooperation in expanding and developing their testing services and procedures, as the SBDMA’s workers will be trained on laboratory tests for medical supplies and cosmetics.

Meanwhile, Abbas expressed aspiration to enhance presence of Jordanian medicine in the Yemeni market due to its “good” reputation and seek to transfer the “pioneering” Jordanian experience in settling the national pharmaceutical industry.

Abbas added that the Yemeni said seeks to benefit from the JFDA’s expertise and competencies and attract Jordanian pharmaceutical factories and companies to open branches in Yemen.

Abbas stressed that cooperation with the JFDA would “positively” reflect on the SBDMA and enhance its capabilities in various fields.

Additionally, he referred to the endeavor to support implementation of the MoU’s provisions “fully,” facilitate cooperation, follow up and assess collaboration activities “continuously.”
