Jordan, EU Advance Strategic Cooperation Talks

Brussels, January 9 (Petra) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates’ Affairs Ayman Safadi and European Commissioner for Startups, Research, and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva held extensive discussions on strengthening Jordan-EU cooperation, particularly in the start-up and innovation sectors.

The meeting built upon prior talks led by Safadi and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan with senior EU officials. These dialogues aim to enhance collaboration and finalize the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, anticipated to be signed soon.

Earlier, Safadi held discussions with European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission Vice President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, and the EU Political and Security Committee. The talks addressed expanding cooperation in key sectors and reviewed developments in the region.

Safadi and Toukan also met with the European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib, as well as the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Suica. Discussions centered on economic and investment programs and the strategic partnership between Jordan and the European Union.
