Jordan has demonstrated strong support for Qatar after Israeli attack on Doha, say analysts

Amman, Sept 15 (Petra) – Jordan, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, has taken a firm stance defending and supporting its Qatari brothers following the Israeli aggression against Doha, immediately launching an intensive diplomatic effort to communicate with Qatari leadership and Arab and Islamic states, seeking to unify positions and raise the voice that any aggression on the sovereignty of an Arab state constitutes a clear threat to regional security and stability.

This position was clearly reflected in the King’s phone call with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which Jordan expressed strong condemnation of the attack and full solidarity with Qatar’s security and legitimacy, positioning Jordan as a strong and faithful supporter during a time of crisis.

The support extended beyond leadership levels, with HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, during a visit to Doha, affirming that Qatar’s security is an inseparable part of Jordan’s security, reflecting the depth of the strategic relationship between the two countries.

Official Jordanian statements also emphasized this stance unequivocally, describing the attack as a “cowardly aggression” and a blatant violation of international law, calling on the international community and the UN Security Council to take responsibility in deterring such aggressive actions.

His Majesty King Abdullah II delivered a strong and direct speech at the Arab summit, urging a unified and firm Arab position to halt Israeli aggression and protect Arab national security.

Politicians and analysts told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that this position represents more than mere symbolic solidarity; it forms a legal and political foundation against the aggression and strengthens Arab alliances in facing common challenges.

They noted that Jordan’s support for Qatar sends a clear message that the Kingdom, under wise Hashemite leadership, remains a voice of justice and a faithful defender of Arab unity and the sovereignty of sister states.

Former Agriculture Minister Reda Al-Khawaldeh said King Abdullah has, since the Israeli aggression on Doha, led an intensive diplomatic effort to communicate with Qatar and Arab and Islamic countries to unify positions and emphasize that any aggression against an Arab state constitutes an attack on regional security and stability.

The King personally held a phone call with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in which he expressed Jordan’s strong condemnation of the attack and full solidarity with Qatar’s security and legitimacy, while the Crown Prince visited Doha, affirming the King’s stance and Jordan’s view that Qatar’s security is part of Jordan’s security.

Jordan’s position on the attack was clear and direct, condemning it as a “cowardly aggression” and a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law, urging the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in deterring such actions.

It confirmed that Jordan, under King Abdullah II, steadfastly stands with the sister state of Qatar, reflecting the Kingdom’s historic approach in defending its brothers and supporting the just causes of the Arab nation.

Al-Khawaldeh noted that the King’s speech at the Arab summit was strong and direct, stressing the seriousness of Israeli aggressions and calling for a unified Arab stance to end these violations, safeguard regional security, and achieve justice for the peoples.

He said Jordan’s position reflects wise and aware leadership, seeing Arab solidarity as the best path to confront challenges, noting that Jordan’s support for Qatar sends a clear message that the Kingdom will remain a voice of justice and defender of Arab unity.

Writer Christine Nasr said Jordan’s authentic stance in supporting the sister state of Qatar after the Israeli attack sent a clear message and reinforced the Kingdom’s approach under His Majesty King Abdullah II to stand with and support its brothers in facing challenges.

Nasr added that the King, in his historic speech during the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, expressed condolences to Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, condemned the Israeli aggression as a serious escalation with broad consequences for regional security and stability, and confirmed that Jordan will continue to support Qatar with all available means to face this aggression.

She noted that Jordan’s political and diplomatic position was strongly present internationally, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi reiterating during a UN Security Council session the Kingdom’s rejection of Israeli aggressions and calling for active measures to halt them.

Nasr emphasized that the importance of the emergency Arab-Islamic summit lies in its indication of a solid position supporting Qatar and sending a collective Arab and Islamic solidarity message, especially given its timing amid the expansion of Israeli aggression from Gaza to the targeting of the resistance movement office in Doha, resulting in the deaths of several members and a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and strategic role in the region.

She noted Jordan plays a pivotal strategic role in regional affairs, whether in the Syrian front or the Palestinian cause, where it has made sacrifices and continuous diplomatic, humanitarian, and relief efforts to support Gaza. Jordan’s central role and high international standing reflect the wisdom of the Hashemite leadership and global trust in the King, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a prominent Arab voice advocating for peace and global security and always standing with its brothers.

Jawdat Manaa, coordinator of the Defend Jerusalem International Campaign, said His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasized Arab solidarity in his speech, stressing that Qatar’s security and stability are an inseparable part of Jordanian and Arab national security. This message comes amid a tense regional context and reflects Jordan’s desire to enhance coordination among Arab states to confront shared security challenges, particularly with Israeli escalation in Gaza and the West Bank.

He noted that the King’s address included clear criticism of Israeli policies, stressing that their persistence in the West Bank undermines peace opportunities and threatens the two-state solution. This position reflects Jordan’s firm commitment to defending Palestinian rights and calls for an active Arab response to stop aggression and prevent the displacement of the Palestinian people amid insufficient international pressure on Israel, urging a firmer and clearer Arab stance.

He said the King’s linking of the aggression against Qatar to Israeli threats sends the message that the danger is not limited to Palestine but encompasses Arab national security as a whole, requiring a firm and unified collective position.

From a legal perspective, the King’s speech aligns with international humanitarian law and lays the groundwork for legal action against Israel, strengthening Arab alliances and pressing the formation of a bolder front against Israeli aggression.

Strategy analyst Khaled Hammad Ayad said Jordan’s stance toward its sister state Qatar is not new but represents a prominent position of support, standing with the Qatari people and diplomacy, as reflected in the King’s position at the emergency Islamic summit in Qatar. He noted that Qatari and Jordanian security are inseparable, and standing together is fundamental.

He pointed to Jordan’s actions under the King’s leadership since the aggression on Doha at all levels and in various forums, noting the strength of these efforts, which received international appreciation and support.
