Jordan, Oman Commit to Strengthen Cooperation

Amman, Sep. 23 (Petra) –The Senate’s Jordanian-Omani Brotherhood Committee, chaired by Senator Hussein Hawatmeh, on Tuesday discussed cooperation with Omani Ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Ajili.

The meeting highlighted shared positions on regional issues, mainly the Palestinian cause.

Talking at the meeting, Hawatmeh stressed the “deep-rooted, historic” bilateral relations under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, calling for enhancing cooperation in the economy, education, tourism, and culture, and for broadening partnerships in various sectors.

Hawatmeh also underscored Jordan’s role in defending Palestinian rights and protecting Jerusalem’s holy sites under the Hashemite Custodianship, praising Oman’s support in this regard.

In turn, Al-Ajili described bilateral relations as a “model for pan-Arab ties and praised Jordan’s regional role.

The diplomat emphasized the importance of continued coordination on regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, expressing Oman’s desire to expand cooperation with Jordan economically, politically, and culturally.

In a Senate statement, both sides reiterated support for Palestinian rights, including establishing an independent state according to the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
