
Amman, Feb. 10 (Petra) – Interior Minister Mazen Faraya participated on Monday in the 6th Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, hosted by Kuwait with the attendance of 22 Arab countries, ministers, international organizations, and experts.
Representing the Prime Minister, Faraya toured the General Directorate of Nationality and Travel Documents, where he was briefed on the development of the Kuwaiti passport into its current electronic version.
He also received an overview of the procedures for submitting and renewing passports through electronic services and the mechanisms for receiving them via designated devices.
The minister commended Kuwait’s advancements in this field, emphasizing the importance of exchanging expertise between the interior ministries of both countries to enhance government services and support digital transformation.
On the sidelines of the forum, Faraya met with Palestinian Interior Minister Ziad Hab Al-Reeh, the Iraqi Environment Minister, and other officials.
The forum, organized by the Government of Kuwait and the Regional Office for Arab States of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, in partnership with the Arab League, aims to follow up on the implementation of the Sendai Framework and the Arab Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction 2030. It will also adopt the Kuwait Declaration, an action plan for 2025-2027, and a regional strategy for the next three years.
