Amman, Feb 19 (Petra) – Senior officials from Jordan and Saudi Arabia held official discussions at the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday as part of the official visit of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Jordan.
Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya emphasized the deep historical, political, security, and social ties between the two nations. He noted that Saudi Arabia has been a steadfast supporter of Jordan, especially during times of regional instability along its borders.
Faraya highlighted the tangible progress in security cooperation, particularly in combating drug smuggling. He revealed that joint efforts had resulted in the seizure of over 11 million Captagon pills en route to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries in the past six months.
Regarding border security, he noted that Jordan’s border crossings with Saudi Arabia witness high traffic, and efforts are underway to enhance border facilities to accommodate this activity.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations, stating that “Jordan’s security is an integral part of Saudi Arabia’s security.” He stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts in border security, counter-narcotics operations, and mutual training programs.
Both sides agreed to form a joint team to explore ways to enhance border security cooperation, implement the anti-narcotics agreement, and strengthen intelligence and expertise exchange.
