Jordan Sends Over 62,000 Tents to Gaza Since Ceasefire Declaration

Amman, Feb.13 (Petra) – Jordan has delivered more than 62,000 tents to Gaza since the ceasefire declaration, with the 161st relief convoy recently arriving. This brings the total number of tents sent to over 74,000, including more than 12,000 tents dispatched before the ceasefire agreement.

These efforts are part of the Kingdom’s continued commitment to humanitarian assistance, coordinated by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).

Hussein Al-Shibli, JHCO Secretary-General, explained that the initial estimate for the need for tents was around 30,000. However, following on-the-ground assessments, it became evident that over 500,000 people required urgent shelter.

Al-Shibli highlighted that Jordan has been a leading supporter of Gaza from the very beginning, providing food, medical supplies, and other essential aid despite the many challenges. This assistance reflects Jordan’s unwavering dedication to helping the people in Gaza amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

He added that the aid is being delivered through the land bridge, in partnership with the Jordanian Armed Forces- Arab Army, ensuring direct delivery to those displaced and living in the open.

Al-Shibli assured that Jordan’s humanitarian efforts will persist, with the Kingdom remaining a constant and vital partner for Gaza, especially as the situation continues to deteriorate.

Under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Al-Shibli emphasized that Jordan will continue to stand with the people of Gaza, ensuring that aid reaches every person in need, driven by a strong sense of humanitarian duty and solidarity.
