Jordan to hold first-ever public auction of special license plates to fund student aid

Amman, Sept. 22 (Petra) – In an unprecedented move, Jordan will hold its first public auction of distinctive vehicle license plate numbers, with all proceeds allocated to the University Student Support Fund.

The Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department (DVLD), in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, announced that a set of premium plate numbers will be offered for sale through a live auction, with revenues earmarked entirely for the fund.

The auction will take place on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, starting at 4 p.m. and concluding the same day.

Officials said channeling proceeds from the sale of special plate numbers into the fund will allow the government to broaden the base of student beneficiaries, ease financial burdens on students and their families, and expand access to higher education opportunities for young people.

The DVLD has posted the numbers online at its website [www.dvld.gov.jo], where interested bidders can view the list, terms and conditions, required deposits and starting prices for each number, along with full auction details.
