Jordanian cities hold rallies in support of King’s stance on Palestine

Amman, Feb. 11 (Petra) – Popular, official, and economic groups across Jordan staged rallies on Tuesday in solidarity with His Majesty King Abdullah’s stance rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the occupied West Bank, reaffirming the kingdom’s unwavering commitment to Palestinian rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders.

The Jordan Bar Association held a solidarity protest, suspending legal proceedings across all courts. This was followed by a “robe march” from the Palace of Justice to Parliament, attended by Speaker Ahmad Safadi and several lawmakers, including former Bar Association President Saleh Armouti.

The Jordan Bar Association President Yahya Abu Aboud said the move reflects the bar’s longstanding role in defending justice, emphasizing support for Jordan’s political and historical stance, under Hashemite leadership, in opposing any forced displacement of Palestinians.

The industrial sector also voiced support, with the Jordan Chamber of Industry organizing a rally attended by its leadership and representatives of various industries. Chamber President Fathi Jaghbir stated in a statement that the event was a show of appreciation for the king’s firm stance against the forced displacement of Gazans.

Similarly, the Amman Chamber of Commerce held a protest outside its headquarters, with participants waving Jordanian flags and banners rejecting displacement, reaffirming support for King Abdullah’s leadership. The rally included chamber officials, business representatives, and trade union leaders.

Chamber President Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq said the protest was a clear rejection of any plans to forcibly relocate Gazans and a message of full support for the king’s unwavering position. A letter of endorsement was signed by commercial and service sector representatives and will be presented to the king.

In Irbid, the local chamber of commerce organized a rally bringing together business leaders and the local community. Chamber President Mohammad Shouha said the protest demonstrated the business sector’s alignment with the king’s steadfast position on Palestine.

Several speakers, including MP Tariq Bani Hani and local activists, echoed Jordan’s unified stance against any displacement of Palestinians or proposals for an “alternative homeland.” They stressed that Jordan, under Hashemite leadership, will not allow any attempt to undermine Palestinian national identity or Jordan’s sovereignty.

A similar demonstration took place in Hashemiyah, Zarqa, where MP Hussein Al-Amoush and local officials expressed their support for the king’s efforts to safeguard Palestinian rights and reject any forced resettlement plans.

Meanwhile, the South Shouneh Education Directorate organized an event commemorating the anniversary of King Hussein’s passing and King Abdullah’s assumption of constitutional powers. Officials emphasized loyalty to the Hashemite leadership and Jordan’s role in defending Palestine.

In Karak, the governorate council held a session reaffirming its full support for King Abdullah’s position on Gaza, calling for national unity in defending Palestinian rights.

The Zarqa Chamber of Commerce also organized a rally, with Chamber President Hussein Shreim describing it as a reaffirmation of national and pan-Arab principles in the face of efforts to undermine the Palestinian cause.

Zarqa Governorate Council President Faisal Zawahreh reiterated that Jordan, under King Abdullah’s leadership, remains a steadfast defender of Palestinian rights and called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in addressing the crisis.
