Jordanian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee likely to convene soon

Amman, Sept 22 (Petra) – The fifth session of the Jordanian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee is likely to convene in Amman soon, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply said on Monday.

Arrangements are underway by both sides to hold the meetings with a comprehensive agenda to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries in various fields, especially the economic domain, and maximize the benefits of opportunities available to each, the ministry’s adviser and spokesperson Yanal Barmawi told Petra.

He said a Jordanian-Qatari summit in Amman last week underlined the importance of holding and activating the joint committee meetings to serve common interests.

Barmawi spoke of the many areas of economic cooperation between the two countries, both within the bilateral framework and the integrated industrial partnership that comprises Jordan, Qatar, other Arab countries, and Turkey. The fifth meeting of the Higher Committee for Partnership was held in Doha in February.

The trade volume between the two countries was at about $222 million last year, which was below the aspired-for level, with significant opportunities existing to raise it in the coming period.
