Amman, August 14 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa said the non-profit sector is a “key partner” in providing essential services to the Kingdom’s underprivileged social groups, who deserve high protection and care.

Bani Mustafa affirmed the ministry’s continued efforts to empower Jordan’s charitable organizations to ensure sustainability of their programs and services.

The minister’s remarks came during a field visit Thursday to the Families & Friends Society of Persons with Disabilities (FFSPD) in the capital, Amman.

During her visit, Bani Mustafa underlined services provided to persons with disabilities are part of the ongoing national efforts aimed at investing in their capabilities.

The minister added that this effort would integrate benficiary groups to achieve self-reliance, which enhances their opportunities to enter the labor market and contribute to achieving development goals.

On its role, she said FFSPD is “one of the leading” organizations in providing services to persons with disabilities and their families, mainly life skills, rehabilitation, training, awareness, and guidance.

The ministry, she noted, looks forward to developing the FFSPD’s services, including early intervention services to serve people with disabilities and their families in the occupational, physical, speech, and community rehabilitation fields.

The minister stated this effort will contribute to this group’s integration and enable the society to continue its programs.
