Amman, Feb. 24 (Petra) — As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) is stepping up its market monitoring efforts to ensure product safety and quality.
The organization has launched an intensified inspection plan covering markets, factories, and border entry points to safeguard consumers ahead of the holy month.
JSMO Director General Abeer Al-Zuhair told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Monday that the plan focuses on products that typically see a surge in demand during Ramadan. These include decorative string lights, household and electrical appliances, clothing, footwear, cleaning products, cosmetics, and children’s toys. Inspectors will also check the accuracy of commercial scales and verify the weight of pre-packaged goods.
To enforce these measures effectively, inspection teams will be working in morning and evening shifts, including weekends. Routine checks will also continue across jewelry shops, fuel stations, and gas cylinder distributors to maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
JSMO is urging the public to play an active role in ensuring product integrity by reporting any counterfeit or non-compliant items. Complaints can be filed via the organization’s Hotline and WhatsApp at 065301243, through its official social media channels, the “Bekhedmetkom” (at your service) app, or the SanadJo platform at 065008080.
