Amman, Aug. 4 (Petra) — Jordan experienced multiple weather systems during July 2025 that led to above-average temperatures in several periods, making it the fifth hottest July in the past ten years, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Director Raed Al Khattab stated that the country was mainly affected by a high-pressure system during July 1–9, 13–20, and 28–31, bringing typical summer weather with temperatures around or slightly below seasonal averages.

In contrast, a thermal surface low impacted the Kingdom during July 11–12 and 22–27, with weaker influence on July 10 and 21, causing temperature spikes ranging from 1.6 C to 4.5 C above the norm.

Amman Civil Airport recorded an average temperature of 28.2 C, which is 1.3 C above the long-term average and 0.3 C lower than July 2024. The average high reached 33.9 C (1.1 C above normal), while the average low was 22.6 C (1.6 C above normal).

The highest temperature at Amman Civil Airport was 37.3 C on July 22, compared to 36.6 C on the same date in 2024. The lowest recorded in the capital was 18.7 C on July 6, slightly cooler than last year’s 19.6 C.

Across other weather stations, Ghor es-Safi in the southern Jordan Valley registered the highest temperature in the country at 46.5 C on July 27, compared to 47.0 C last year. The coldest reading was 7.2 C in Shoubak, Ma’an Governorate, on July 6, compared to 9.2 C the previous year.

Khattab emphasized that while July 2025 was warmer than usual, the variation remained within expected summer norms for Jordan.
