Former Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Khaled Kalaldeh stated that His Majesty’s remarks to President Trump underscored Jordan’s refusal to compromise on its national interests, as reflected in his statement, “I will do what is best for my country.”
Kalaldeh emphasized that His Majesty represented the entire Arab world in rejecting Trump’s suggestion of Palestinian displacement, making it clear that the issue would be discussed collectively with Arab nations, particularly Egypt and Saudi Arabia. This signifies a unified Arab stance against U.S. bias toward the Israeli occupation.
He recalled that Jordan faced similar pressure in 2017 when Trump introduced the “Deal of the Century,” but the Kingdom stood firm and refused to engage.
Former MP Hael Wad’an Al-Dajah highlighted that Jordan’s rejection of Palestinian displacement predates the recent meeting with Trump, and that His Majesty’s unwavering stance was well-known even before Trump’s statements.
Al-Dajah noted that prior to the meeting, many questioned whether Trump would adjust his stance in light of Jordanian and Egyptian opposition. His Majesty reaffirmed during the meeting that Jordan’s stability and security take precedence, and that any resolution must be based on the two-state solution.
He added that the meeting underscored the importance of Jordan’s coordination with key Arab nations like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, and Qatar, demonstrating a unified Arab response to Trump’s Gaza proposal.
Abdul Hakim Qaraleh, a professor of political science and international relations at Applied Science University, said His Majesty’s statements reaffirmed Jordan’s and the Arab world’s fundamental stance on the Palestinian issue rejecting displacement and annexation and advocating for peace through a two-state solution.
Qaraleh emphasized that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved by restoring Palestinian rights and establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.
Finally, Mohammad Hasan Tarawneh, spokesperson for the European Middle Eastern Medical Association, underscored His Majesty’s firm rejection of Palestinian displacement, calling it a violation of international law and human rights.
He stressed that the international community must take action to prevent forced displacement and ensure Palestinians’ right to return, allowing them to build a secure and prosperous future.
