
Amman, August 29 (Petra)– Wa’ed Rabab’ah– In the first half of this year, the Kingdom’s imports from the United States climbed by 19 percent to JD733 million, up from JD616 million in the same period previous year.
In contrast, national exports to the US market fell 1.2 percent to JD1.058 billion in the first half of this year from JD1.071 billion in the same period last year.
The Kingdom’s trade surplus with the United States was JD325 million in the first half of this year, up from JD455 million in the same time last year, according to official statistics tracked by the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
During the first half of this year, Jordan’s national exports to the United States made up 24.2% of the country’s total export value. These exports were mostly from the apparel, fertilizer and chemical products, pharmaceutical, jewelry, food and animal products, information technology, and engineering sectors.
Metal products, transportation equipment, machinery and electrical appliances, grains, chemicals, medical devices, food industry products, furniture, iron products, used clothing, vegetable oils and fats, wood and wood products, and animal products were the main items that Jordan imported from the United States.
