Literary Creativity Award for School Students LaunchedMuscat, 2 Sep (ONA) — Oman Society for Writers and Literati today launched the third edition of its Literary Creativity Award for School Students (2025–2026) at its headquarters in Airport Heights.Dr. Abdullah Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, who sponsored the launch, emphasized that the award reflects the active partnership between the Ministry of Education and the Oman Society for Writers and Literati.He noted that such cultural initiatives enrich the educational environment and open broader horizons for creativity and critical thinking.He explained that the previous two editions saw significant growth, with participant numbers rising from approximately 1,500 to over 3,000 across various award categories, demonstrating strong student engagement and the award’s importance in fostering creativity.On his turn, Eng. Said Mohammed Al Saqlawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Society for Writers and Literati, stated in his speech that the award represents one of the sustainable cultural projects aimed at nurturing emerging literary talents in Omani schools and providing a stimulating environment for creativity across various literary fields.The award targets students from government and private schools, as well as students with special needs, divided into three age groups and multiple categories as follows:Young Category (Grades 1–5): Poetry recitation, classical Arabic poetry writing, and short story writing.Adolescent Category (Grades 6–9): Poetry recitation.Youth Category (Grades 10–12): Short story writing, classical Arabic speaking, literary text analysis, and poetry.The top three winners in each category at the national level will be honored, and their winning works will be published in a special edition by the Society.— Ends/AH
