Morocco’s Government Council Takes Note of Criminal Extradition Agreement with Malawi

Presented by the General Secretary of Government, Mohamed El Hajoui, on behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the agreement aims to establish efficient cooperation between the two countries in the judiciary and the fight against crime, through the extradition of criminals wanted by the authorities of both parties.

During a press briefing following the Council’s meeting, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, said that by virtue of this agreement, the two countries commit to proceeding with mutual extradition, upon request, and in accordance with their respective national laws, of any person sought by the requesting State for the purpose of prosecution, trial, or execution of a judgment issued against them for an extraditable offense.

The Government Council took note, on Thursday, of the agreement on criminal extradition signed on July 16, 2024 in Laayoune between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Malawi, as well as the draft law draft law no. 49.24 approving the said agreement.
