New Professional Designations Approved to Regulate Hotel SectorMuscat, 15 Jul (ONA) – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with the Ministry of Laboor, has endorsed 73 new professional designations for the hotel and tourist resort sector. This initiative is part of efforts to regulate and develop the tourism sector and enhance the labour market’s readiness to accommodate qualified national competencies in this field.These designations have been incorporated into the unified GCC guide for professional classification and description, where they were categorized and distributed according to the economic activities approved in the tourism sector. This includes hotels, resorts, hotel facilities, rest houses, chalets, heritage inns, and guesthouses.These new designations provide employers and tourism establishments with broader options and greater accuracy in identifying their workforce needs, which contributes to improving institutional performance and raising the efficiency of human resources in this vital sector.The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism affirms that this step comes within the context of joint coordination with the Ministry of Labour to support development in the tourism sector and create an appropriate environment for growth and investment, in line with the aspirations of “Oman Vision 2040,” which prioritizes tourism as part of economic diversification.—- Ends/AH
