CTBTO Preparatory Commission Discuss Areas of Cooperation

Muscat, 27 Jan 2026 (ONA) — Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister,
received today Dr. Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Preparatory
Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).

During
the meeting, the two sides reviewed the existing aspects of cooperation between
the Sultanate of Oman and the CTBTO Preparatory Commission. They emphasized the
importance of international cooperation and multilateralism in strengthening
and supporting the disarmament and non-proliferation regime. Furthermore, they
underscored the consolidation of an approach based on dialogue and diplomacy as
a fundamental choice for achieving international peace and security.

The
two sides also exchanged views on the importance of technical cooperation and
capacity building in the fields of monitoring and verification, as well as
combating radioactive leakage and its resulting damage. They additionally
discussed several issues of common interest.

The
meeting was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qatbi, Head of the
International Organizations Department at the Foreign Ministry and several
officials from both sides.
