
Amman, Feb 23 (Petra) — Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan called on the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Sunday for a first-hand look at its updated strategy to develop policing work and the civil protection system as well preparations ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a meeting with PSD Director Major General Obaidallah Maaytah, the prime minister pointed to advancements the security body achieved in recent years as it sought to keep pace with developments to enhance its services.
He stressed the need for close cooperation and joint work between the public security and government bodies to enforce the law, serve citizens and protect public and private property and facilities.
The PSD chief said the directorate is keen to translate royal directives and the government’s instructions to develop and update strategies to deal with crime and improve security and humanitarian services.
He commended the government’s support of the security body and the civil defense and introducing latest policing techniques and civil protection equipment systems, which had an impact on the security of citizens and helped reduce crime.
The PSD is in coordination with all concerned bodies and the Greater Amman Municipality to come up with solutions to traffic problems and accidents and crime prevention, he pointed out.
The prime minister, joined by Interior Minister Mazen Faraya and Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh, toured the Operations and Control Directorate, and was briefed on the flow of work to respond to emergencies and up-to-date technologies, including the traffic drone unit.
