Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra) — The Anti-Narcotics Department has dismantled a criminal cell linked to regional drug-trafficking networks and arrested 14 suspects in Madaba after weeks of investigation and surveillance, a Public Security Directorate spokesperson said on Sunday.
The suspects were detained following coordinated raids targeting storage sites where large quantities of narcotics were kept for sale and distribution. Police seized 160 packages of hashish, half a kilogram of cocaine, and an unspecified number of narcotic pills.
In a separate operation in Balqa governorate, a special unit apprehended one of the province’s most notorious drug dealers, identified as the main supplier of narcotics to local distributors. He was arrested after resisting officers, who confiscated 29 packages of hashish and four firearms from his possession.
Another dealer was arrested in the Central Badia region while transporting and attempting to sell drugs. Authorities seized 50 packages of hashish during the raid.
