Amman, Sep. 24 (Petra) – His Royal Highness Prince Mired bin Raad, Chief Chamberlain and Chairman of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), on Wednesday honored the top students with disabilities, who passed General Secondary Education Examination (Tawjihi) for the 2024-2025 academic year, with a score exceeding 95%.

The Prince wished these top-achieving students continued excellence and success in their academic and future endeavors.

According to a HCD statement, 641 students with disabilities sat 2025 Tawjihi exam, 390 of whom passed, representing a success rate of 61%, while a total of 251 applicants failed to complete the exam.

Out of the overall figure, 23 students, including 13 female and 10 male test-takers, respectively, achieved a score of 90% or above, marking an achievement that reflects their “strong will and ability to excel and combat negative stereotypes prevalent about them.”

During the meeting, held at the Council’s headquarters, His Highness praised these students’ “determination and perseverance,” noting their achievements reflect a “strong will and ability” to overcome environmental and behavioral challenges and barriers, and embody spirit of persistence that inspires the entire community.

His Highness noted these success stories confirm that people with disabilities are capable of creativity and achieving excellence when provided with an inclusive educational environment and appropriate support.

The Prince also commended the “remarkable” efforts made by the students’ families in supporting and assisting them throughout their years of study.

Additionally, he praised role of educational staff and schools that provided the necessary environmental and educational facilities to ensure that students with disabilities fully enjoy their educational rights.

Inclusive education is a fundamental right guaranteed by law and international agreements, he stated, adding that these students’ success represents an “important” step in promoting the principles of equality and equal opportunity.

“This success is not limited to individuals alone, but rather a national achievement that reflects society’s ability to embrace diversity and difference, transforming it into a positive force that drives comprehensive and sustainable development, ” he pointed out.

In this context, he called for continued work on developing educational and training policies that open doors of Jordan’s universities and higher education institutions to persons with disabilities to secure equal opportunities in the labor market.

The Prince affirmed the council’s “firm commitment” to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities and continuing to implement programs and initiatives that enhance their active participation in various areas of life, adding that their success today is “a step toward a more inclusive and just future for all.”
