PSD chief checks on response plan to address winter-related emergencies

Amman, October 5 (Petra) – Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Dr. Obeidallah Maaytah, said “operational readiness” during the winter season is a “national necessity” that requires the PSD units’ high-level coordination with relevant authorities to ensure rapid response and integrated national efforts in confronting unusual weather conditions.

During his visit on Sunday to the PSD’s departments of Civil Defense and Operations and Control, he conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah II’s greetings to civil defense personnel and His Majesty’s pride in their “dedicated” efforts to protect lives and property.

Maaytah called for “optimally” ensuring readiness and reviewing winter emergency plans to ensure provision of optimal services to citizens.

Maaytah also emphasized the need to enhance joint coordination with Jordan’s ministries and service institutions to achieve integrated efforts and unified procedures in accordance with the highest standards.

Maaytah noted the Civil Defense Department’s “prestigious status, its strategic” capabilities, human resources, and technical capabilities, which reflect the King’s continued support.

The PSD, he noted, is continuing to develop the two departments’ capabilities in all areas, enhancing their preparedness to provide security and humanitarian services.

Maaytah added that this effort aligns with the best international practices and consolidating the approach of modernization and development within the comprehensive security work system.

During the winter season, Maaytah directed intensified awareness campaigns on public safety measures, calling for strengthening community partnership as an “essential” part of the civil protection system and urging steps to leverage previous experiences to improve services provided to citizens.

Maaytah was briefed by Civil Defense Director on field preparations and preventive measures taken as part of the winter plan.

At the Operations and Control Department, its director highlighted joint plans and mechanisms for field coordination among the PSD’s various units and formations during weather conditions to ensure rapid response and enhance efficiency of reporting incidents.

Additionally, Maaytah was briefed on a number of advanced technical and technological equipment recently introduced into Jordan’s Civil Defense system, aimed to enhance capability to respond “effectively” to various types of incidents and emergencies.
