Amman, Feb 19 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has issued a warning regarding the anticipated impacts of a storm that will affect the kingdom starting on Wednesday evening. The storm is expected to bring rain to the western parts of the country, according to official weather reports.
The PSD urged citizens to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety, emphasizing the importance of avoiding valleys and low-lying areas prone to flash flooding, and seeking safer locations, especially for those living in tents or makeshift shelters.
Drivers were advised to exercise caution to avoid accidents caused by slippery roads, stay away from water accumulation areas, and refrain from attempting to cross submerged roads, either on foot or by vehicle.
The PSD also reminded citizens to use heating systems safely, ensuring they are turned off when sleeping, to ventilate homes regularly, and to secure objects that may be blown away, such as zinc sheets and water tank covers, particularly in open areas due to strong winds.
Visibility may be reduced due to dust storms in the eastern and southern regions, caused by active winds.
The PSD confirmed its operational readiness to handle emergency reports through the unified emergency number, 911, and urged citizens to cooperate and report any cases requiring immediate intervention.
