
Amman, Feb. 3 (Petra) – Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abul Samen, reviewed on Monday the latest achievements and updates on priorities and initiatives outlined in the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) (2023-2025), including newly introduced projects approved by the Council of Ministers on Sunday.
According to a ministry statement, Abul Samen discussed the progress of infrastructure and housing priorities during a meeting attended by several stakeholders.
Abul Samen emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, improving service quality, and promoting major strategic projects that will add value to Jordan’s roads, housing, and urban development sectors. These efforts aim to boost economic activity and enhance the quality of life for both citizens and residents.
He highlighted that the Economic Modernization Vision is a cornerstone of Jordan’s comprehensive modernization strategy, as outlined by His Majesty King Abdullah II, seeking to unlock national potential, stimulate inclusive growth, create job opportunities, and enhance service delivery across all sectors.
The minister instructed relevant officials to ensure timely implementation of projects under the government’s executive program for the vision, stressing the importance of coordination among stakeholders to successfully complete planned infrastructure projects by 2025.
Infrastructure and Housing Sector Priorities
The Public Works and Housing sector was allocated 14 key priorities within the Economic Modernization Vision’s executive program, focusing on:
– Enhancing quality of life
– Developing future services
– Sustainable resource management
Site Visit: Abu Al-Hassani Road Project
Separately, Abul Samen inspected progress on the Abu Al-Hassani Road construction project, located south of Amman. The 1.7-kilometer-long, 7-meter-wide road is funded by the annual budget of the ministry.
According to the statement, the project includes:
– Full reconstruction of all pavement layers
– Realignment of the road based on official plans (as the old route deviated from the designated path)
– Application of asphalt layers following technical specifications
– Expansion of rainwater drainage structures
– Installation of traffic safety elements
The road, classified as an agricultural route, serves approximately 30 homes in Abu Al-Hassani village, in addition to agricultural projects, providing a direct link to the Desert Highway.
