Public Works Ministry deployes 114 field teams, 350 vehicles to deal with expected weather condition

Amman, Feb 19 (Petra) – The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has reaffirmed its continued readiness to deal with expected weather conditions, with 114 field teams equipped with 350 vehicles, including snow plows, deployed across various regions of the Kingdom, tailored to the geographic specifics of each area.

Ministry spokesperson Omar Maharmah told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the main operations room at the ministry has been updated and equipped with modern communication devices. Additionally, 14 operations rooms in the governorate’s public works directorates have been set up and linked to the main operations room at the ministry, ensuring coordination with various official agencies.

He confirmed that the ministry has provided wireless communication devices to the directors of public works and offices to facilitate information sharing among all field staff. An emergency reporting program has also been developed for smartphones, allowing citizens to quickly report incidents by sending images, audio, or video clips through the app, which operates on a Geographic Information System (GIS) that provides precise location coordinates once a report is submitted, identifying the nearest field team and vehicle to respond.

Maharmah noted that this year, the ministry has started receiving reports via the unified number 106 from any mobile phone, in addition to the operation room numbers listed on the ministry’s website and social media pages.
