Amman, Sep. 16 (Petra) – Qatar’s Ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, said Tuesday that the upcoming visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, to Jordan marks a pivotal milestone at a sensitive regional juncture, underscoring the strength of ties between the two countries.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the ambassador said the visit carries clear messages of advancing political consultation and coordination on regional developments, and expanding cooperation in the economic, investment, and educational fields. He noted that the visit follows Jordan’s consistent solidarity with Qatar, including His Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II’s recent visit to Doha and regular high-level communications.
Sheikh Saud stressed that both countries are committed to practical and sustainable partnerships built on signed agreements and memoranda of understanding in areas such as security, investment, energy, education, and labor. He said the two sides are also coordinating closely on regional and international issues to enhance Arab unity and support stability and development.
He underscored that the Palestinian cause remains a top priority, with both countries supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, and cooperating to deliver humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza. He also highlighted Jordan’s Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem alongside Qatar’s reconstruction and relief efforts in Gaza.
The ambassador noted ongoing cooperation in humanitarian and development projects, including medical and relief aid to Gaza and Syria, as well as joint infrastructure and energy initiatives such as the gas pipeline agreement to Syria coordinated through the Qatar Fund for Development. He added that Qatar’s 2018 announcement of a $500 million investment package in Jordan and the pledge to provide 20,000 jobs for Jordanians in Doha demonstrate Doha’s commitment to Jordan’s economic resilience and youth empowerment.
He emphasized that Qatar and Jordan offer a model of pan-Arab cooperation based on mutual trust and integration across political, economic, and social sectors, enhancing sustainable development and creating new opportunities. He also congratulated the Nashama national football team on its World Cup qualification, describing it as a historic achievement for Jordanian youth.
