&quotNo Resettlement, No Displacement, No Solutions at Jordan’s Expense”, PM Affirms

Amman, Feb 12 (Petra) — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan praised His Majesty King Abdullah II’s wisdom, acumen and diplomacy as the first Arab leader to meet with President Trump to discuss regional developments, particularly Gaza and the future of the two-state solution, addressing recent ideas from Washington.

Speaking at Wednesday’s parliamentary session, the Prime Minister said His Majesty emphasized to the U.S. administration the importance of adopting an Arab plan for Gaza’s reconstruction by its own people, without forced displacement, affirming that Jordan will not act unilaterally on matters concerning Palestine’s future and the region.

The Prime Minister stressed that His Majesty clearly stated that Jordan’s interests, stability, and the protection of Jordan and Jordanians take precedence over all other considerations, emphasizing the Kingdom’s clear and unwavering position on displacement: no resettlement, no displacement, and no solutions at Jordan’s expense.

Hassan noted that since the beginning of the war on Gaza, Jordan was the first to establish field hospitals and continues its relief efforts, expressing readiness to receive 2,000 children for medical treatment in the Kingdom, as treatment has become impossible due to Gaza’s destroyed healthcare system.

He highlighted Jordan’s decades-long strategic relationship with the United States, stating that strengthening and developing this relationship serves both countries’ interests, emphasizing Jordan’s wise and clear policy in dealing with all issues and challenges.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Jordan’s efforts focus on achieving regional security, stability, and peace, fundamentally based on a just solution to the Palestinian cause through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

“We reaffirm His Majesty’s Speech from the Throne,” the Prime Minister said, “that we are a nation firm in its identity, not risking its future, preserving its Hashemite heritage and Arab and humanitarian belonging, and that Jordan’s future will not be subject to policies that do not serve its interests or deviate from its principles.”

Following is the Prime Minister’s speech text:
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Mr. Speaker,
Fellow Representatives,
First, we commend His Majesty the King’s acumen, wisdom, and diplomacy at yesterday’s summit in Washington, as the first Arab leader to meet with President Trump to discuss regional developments, particularly the Gaza situation and the future of the two-state solution, to address the ideas recently proposed by Washington.

The meeting affirmed to the U.S. administration the Arab role and the importance of adopting an Arab plan that rebuilds Gaza by its own people, and for its people, without forcibly displacing Palestinians from their land, which would threaten the entire region.

His Majesty the King clearly affirmed that Jordan’s interest, stability, and the protection of Jordan and Jordanians are above all considerations, and that Jordan’s position on displacement is clear and firm: no resettlement, no displacement, and no solutions at Jordan’s expense.

The solution to the Palestinian issue lies in Palestine, which will remain, despite occupation and injustice, the homeland of Palestinians and their land which they will not abandon, and supporting their steadfastness and defending their just rights is at the core of our efforts.

Jordan is working today with the Arab Republic of Egypt and Arab brethren and our brothers in Palestine to formulate a unified and clear Arab position regarding Gaza’s reconstruction, and will not act unilaterally in issues concerning Palestine’s and the region’s future, and Jordan’s voice is heard and its role is essential and solutions cannot ever be imposed at its expense.

Since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, we were the first to establish field hospitals, conduct humanitarian airdrops, launch an air bridge, and continue relief efforts by land and air without interruption, and we transferred hundreds of patients from Gaza for treatment in Jordan, most of them children to save their lives.

We will continue this effort, and as His Majesty initiated yesterday, we are ready to receive two thousand children for treatment in the Kingdom, as providing treatment for them is impossible given the destruction of the healthcare system in Gaza.

Jordan always remains strong through its leadership, people, institutions, and national resilience, and through its positions and constants which it does not abandon, and our relations with all countries are based on serving our interests and supporting our just causes.

Our relationship with the United States of America is a strategic one extending for decades, and strengthening and developing it serves both countries’ interests. We pursue a wise and clear policy in dealing with all issues and challenges, and we seek to direct our efforts in one direction to achieve security, stability and peace in the region, based fundamentally on a just solution to the Palestinian cause, built on establishing an independent Palestinian state.

As I mentioned, most important to us is our country’s and people’s interest first and last, and thank God we have overcome the most severe and dangerous circumstances.. we did not and will not waver… we built our economy in the most difficult times with our own hands and national capabilities.

We thank those who supported us in bearing burdens we carried on behalf of the world and region, and we have given more than any support given to us in addressing challenges and bearing burdens resulting from regional crises and wars, which were not the result of our policies or decisions, rather our role was an essential stability factor for the region at every turn.

I conclude my remarks by affirming what His Majesty the King said less than three months ago under this dome, when he emphasized in the Speech from the Throne that we are a nation firm in its identity, not risking its future, preserving its Hashemite heritage and Arab and humanitarian belonging, and that Jordan’s future will not be subject to policies that do not serve its interests or deviate from its principles.

These are the principles of our wise leadership, and these are our nation’s constants, and we all rally around the nation’s flag and behind our leadership for Jordan’s interest, security and stability.

Peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.”
